Children's daily time getting to know God.
Description
All of these booklets are 6" x 9" paperbacks. The last four of a group of six booklets have the following titles:
- Book 3 - Strong Through God's Spirit teaches children how God's Holy Spirit works in them to make them strong. Children learn how to win over sin. They learn how to put on God's armor. Prayer ideas, memory verses, and activity pages will help children be consistent in living the way Jesus taught.
- Book 4 - Spend Time with God helps children learn about the Bible and how it was written. They learn how to praise and worship God. They learn about prayer. They learn how to have a daily time with God.
- Book 5 - Choices That Please God helps children learn how to keep from making wrong choices. It explains what God thinks about complaining, anger, forgiveness, and fear. It teaches children how to not gossip or tell lies.
- Book 6 - Standing For God teaches children that God wants them to do what is right. It explains that many people think it is alright to do whatever they want but that is not what God says! Children will learn that the Bible teaches that some things are always right and some are always wrong.
Considerations
- These booklets are available in English in either the New International Version (NIV) or the King James Version (KJV).
- These booklets are also available in Spanish.
- They could each be used as an evangelism tool reinforced by brief introductions to Christian doctrine in the form of the daily questions.
- They can each be downloaded from the following website: http://www.wonderzone.com/activities/devotional.
Limitations
- A few of the topics refer to things that might not be familiar to all children in every culture. Culturally appropriate changes will need to be made.
- The material is heavy on doctrinal questions and doesn't provide many cultural examples. However these appropriate cultural examples could be included in the translations.
Guidelines for Use
- These booklets would be useful in a school or Christian school situation as a beginning for the activities of the day. It could be a group devotional time.
- Each booklet could be presented orally on a audio cassette or on a CD.
- Where the booklet asks individual children to write their answers, the audio version would give opportunity for the class to discuss a question.
- The prayer suggestions could be the beginning of a prayer time for the whole class.
- These booklets could also be used as short radio meditations for children.
