Video CD or VCD, also known as Compact Disc digital video, is a standard digital format for storing video on a Compact Disc (CD). VCDs are playable in dedicated players, personal computers, and many DVD players. The quality is poor.

SVCD (Super Video Compact Disc) is a newer format that has a quality in between the quality of VCDs and DVDs. SVCDs are also a better quality than VHS tape. VHS tape is similar to VCD quality.
