Description
This book is one of the seventy-eight flipchart Visualized Bible series. These books offer Bible teaching from Genesis to Revelation. Each book was written to be non-graded and may be used with multiple age groups. This book begins with the life of Jesus. It has four lessons and 16 pictures.
- Lesson 1 The promise of God: God's plan from eternity. (Luke 1:26-38 and Matthew 1:18-25.
- Lesson 2 The Birth of Jesus. (Luke 2:1-7
- Lesson 3 Visitors to the King: Angels, shepherds, wise men (Luke 2:8-20 and Matthew 2:1-18
- Lesson 4 Jesus is Eternal: Jesus is God ( John 1:1-14 and Col. 1:15-19 and Hebrews 1:1-3)
Considerations
- The English version of this flipchart book is 9” X 12” and includes full color pictures and student activities.
- This book is also available in Spanish and Portuguese in a 10” x 14” two-color edition. Both languages have the lessons translated, but no activities.
- Most pictures are clear and uncluttered.
- A simple colored map of Palestine is included.
- A useful page on counseling children to follow Jesus is included. A thumb acrostic using a child's hand will serve as a guide in making a simple prayer.
- Permission is given to make copies and duplicate each of the pictures. These may be given to the children to color at the end of each lesson. They can be taken home as reminders of the lesson.
Limitations
- Some of the pictures show just a part of the scene or of people. This may be confusing to children who are not picture literate.
- Some of the student activities included in the English language book will not be useful in all cultures since they depend on reading.
Guidelines for Use
- These lessons would be useful in Sunday Schools, schools, camps, or children's Bible clubs.
- The flipchart book could be provided on audio-cassette to accompany the pictures.
- The pictures could be used in a filmstrip along with the script of the lessons.
- A storyteller could use these pictures as the story is told rather than taught.
