Summary
They mixed the voice track and the M & E and put it on a master for around $200 US.
The second project, Ruth, is from S4C, the BBC affiliate in Wales. It is part of a series of 9 videos of Old Testament characters/stories. You may recall I showed an English version of Ruth at VMS training in the fall of 1999. It took us quite a while to get the rights to do this project. In the end, they asked for a 1,000 British pound advance on 15% of the retail sales.
Technically it was much easier because it is animated. S4C does not do any of the technical stuff. They only supply a BETA-SP master (PAL) with a separate M&E track. We digitized our own AVI file just from the VHS sample copy they gave us. After we recorded the whole thing, I exported the voice track to a wave file on a CD. I then took the CD & the master to a local video studio. They mixed the voice track and the M&E and put it on a master for around $200 US.
We are going to do three more of this series. Jonah is 99% done. Creation & the Flood (an excellent retelling of both stories) is about 50% done. We have the master for David & Saul but have not yet begun recording. We probably won’t do any more because the others in the series, while well done, aren’t really appropriate for translation.
Testament, The Bible in Animation Ruth Video Story Submitted by K. Holmes
Internal notes:
February 20, 2007 mkb entered “Testament, The Bible in Animation...by K Holmes” at the end (taken from the inadequate case history that is almost the same). I suggest we remove the inadequate case history and work on getting a product and a good case history from K. Holmes.
Made reference because it does not have the qualities of a good case history it should be linked to a product. “Ruth from station S4C” 9/23/04 jvd
