Instructions for Adding Pages to SPARK
Introduction
There are three methods of entering a page on SPARK
1. Send a word processing document to the Content Coordinator with a title and one-sentence summary, along with any images and attachments.
2. Enter your word processing document yourself.
3. Create your document directly using SPARK formatting.
For Methods 2 and 3,follow the instructions below. (You may want to print these instructions before you start.)
Creating a Document
1. Using the Search window (in the left sidebar), type in the Page Name you wish to use.
Use Title Case and be careful about spelling and capitalization of words, for once you create the file, you won't be able to change the title.
2. Click Go.
If the results window says: “There is no page titled ‘Your Page’”, you can create this page, because the name you have chosen is available.)
3. Click on the red create this page.
4. A blank "Edit" page will appear.
Click on the Save page button at bottom of the Page to save it. This will create a blank document with your title.
5. At this time you will need to transfer a template to your Page
Transferring a Template
1. From the list below, select the appropriate template for your article:
An Edit Page will appear for your document type
Templates
· Case History Page
Use this template if you are describing how you used media. What communication barriers existed? What did and didn't work? In this way, you can help others who may be interested in trying the same methods of communicating with others.
· Impact Story page
Use this template if you are describing a story that would be useful for encouraging others to get involved. These articles might be used in church bulletins, newsletters, etc., and do not contain all the technical information that a case history might have.
· Product page
Use this Template if you are describing a Product."Products" are finished productions ready to use.
· Equipment page
Use this template is for media-related equipment (including computer software) which is used to create products/productions.
· Organization page
Use this template to give contact information about your organization.
2. On the Template Page that appears, From the Toolbar just below the Spark Banner, Select Edit..
3. On the Edit Page that appears, click on the "NP" button (second from the right on the top toolbar).
This will make your page closed to the public until you and the SPARK staff are ready to make it public
4. Press Ctrl - A to select all the text and formatting on this page.
5. Press Ctrl - C to copy it.
6. Close the page without changing it (select "Cancel" at the bottom of the page. OR use the Back button at the top left.)
7. Return to your New Page. (Enter the title of your new page in the Search Box and select Go.)
8. From the Toolbar just below the Spark Banner, Select Edit.
9. Click anywhere in your New Page document.
10. Press Ctrl - V to paste everything from the template into your New Page.
You are now ready to enter your own text!
Save page every so often to prevent losing what you have entered. At any time, you can click the "Show preview" button at the bottom of the edit page, to see what the finished article would look like. Remember that if you leave the page (as when clicking on a link or are automatically logged off due to a time out), your unsaved changes will be lost.
