John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress for children in flip chart format.

Description

These five lessons were written for children's meetings of any kind. It is suggested that a series of correlated lessons titled Bible Lessons for Life's Journey also be used.

A suggested daily schedule is given that will need to be adapted to fit other cultures. The suggested songs may not be appropriate in every culture but others may be substituted.

The basic outline for each day is: Day 1

  • Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:11
  • Bible Lesson and Pilgrim's Progress combined: The Christian's Armor

Day 4 Same basic schedule of songs, prayer, review and invitation

  • Review of previous memory verses
  • Memory Verse: Jeremiah 33:3
  • Bible Story: Crossing the Red Sea
  • Pilgrim's Progress lesson: Pilgrim in a Dungeon

Day 5 Same basic schedule of songs, prayer, review and invitation

  • Bible Story: Cain and Able
  • Pilgrim's Progress lesson: Pilgrim's Journey Ended

Considerations

  • The flip chart book is 8 1/2" x 11" in size.
  • It has 40 pictures
  • The pictures are in two colors: orange and yellow in varying shades.
  • Also available in a smaller format on CD for use with computers.

Limitations

  • Some of the pictures show only part of the scene or person. This will need to be explained to children who are not picture literate.
  • In some languages it is possible that the two colors used may have differented significance. This will need to be explained.

Guidelines for Use

  • Use the script for translating into minority languages. The pictures can be used with any language.
  • Use translated script on audio cassette.
  • Use translated script on CD.
  • Use in Sunday school, children's church, home school or bible clubs and camps.
