This video is a drama presentation of seven parables from the Gospels.
Description
This 58-minute DVD contains the following seven parables acted out and filmed by International Media Ministries (IMM):
- The Good Samaritan
- The Unmerciful Servant
- The Treasure and the Pearl
- The Lost Son
- The Midnight Visitor
- The Dinner
- The Manager
Christopher Gordon-Smith (British accent) is the narrator/storyteller for each of the parables. He gives an introduction and background information and then tells the story of the parable followed by its application to people’s lives.
IMM’s mission has been “to establish a global witness for Christ through media since 1982 – Everywhere and In all languages. They are about connecting media to missions through production, training, consultation, studio installation, and Internet. Via electronic media – radio, television, Internet - IMM takes the Gospel to hard places, closed places”.
They have produced several other products which are described on their website, namely:

Considerations
This production does a good job explaining the significance of the seven parables listed above. Each parable begins with the narrator explaining background information and then shows Jesus talking to a group of people seated around him. This flows into the parable being acted out as the narrator describes what is happening and then concludes with its application to our lives. In this way the meaning of the parable can be clearly understood. No cross-cultural problems were noted. Parables of Jesus won bronze awards for Best Series and Best Screenplay in 2007 from Crown Awards.
Limitations
Straight Scripture is not used to tell the parables. This may be a negative factor in deciding whether or not to dub this video into other languages.
