One-sentence summary
African folk stories for children with Biblical applications.
Description
These stories have been gathered from the rich resource of African folklore. They have been adapted for young readers. Each story carries its own Biblical application. Some of the 34 stories also appear in other African folklore books. Each story is short (about two pages) and includes a black and white drawing that illustrates the story. Each story ends with a very brief comment relating it to Christian living as well as giving a Bible reference verse. The book has 93 pages.
Considerations
- This is a good source of illustrations for use by Sunday School teachers, pastors, youth leaders and others.
- It would provide excellent material for radio broadcasts aimed at children especially in African countries.
- The stories would be useful on audio cassette.
- The stories could be used in flash card format with the drawings enlarged on the front and the story itself on the back of the paper.
- The stories were originally told by African story-tellers without any drawings. They could still be used this way in oral cultures.
