It is a story of two children taken from their home by soldiers who are fighting in their country. The father is shot, and the mother is taken by the soldiers.

Ten-year-old Ly Huy cares for his small sister through many difficulties. They walk on foot to a large city where they are found by two Christian women. One of the women is foreign, but the other is Vietnamese. These women have a Christian children's home.

While living in the home, both of the children become followers of Jesus, and no longer worship Buddha. Ly Huy must make a difficult decision. He agrees to send his little sister to a foreign land to be cared for. Later he goes to this foreign land to live.

At the airport, Ly Huy is re-united with his birth mother. They fly to another country far away. When they arrive, they are met by the little sister and the woman who has cared for her.
