Description
This story happens in East Africa during the 1940's. This was before antibiotics were available in Africa. It was before they had vaccinations for smallpox or medicines for infections and diseases. The book is based on true happenings and also teaches many spiritual truths.
Workers at the East African hospital work hard to stop the wide-spread illness of measles that is blinding or killing children in part of East Africa.
African drums beat through the jungle darkness. Mubofu is a young boy who was blinded by measles. After hearing about Jesus he becomes a follower of Jesus.
Although Mubofu physical eyes were blind, he could smell, feel and hear very well. He used these abilities to help other children. At night Mubofu secretly brings other sick children to the hospital for treatment. These children come from his village. The people of his village are enemies of the hospital work. They are also enemies of the Good News of Jesus that is shared at the hospital.
Mubofu disappears. Workers at the hospital suspect this is part of the chief's evil attack on the hospital work. Mubufo is found just before he dies. The African dispenser of medicine quietly comments, “Now Mubufo is seeing”.
The book shows how the power of God overcomes the power of witchcraft and evil.
