Internal notes:

(These int. notes are from Worldview (1 word) article. These are the same as those from World View, below.)

Aug.10, 2005 ML Occurrences of worldview vs world view as two words changed after discussion with JVD Dec.2, 2004 JVD I changed the 2-4 column headers to reflect the less complex charts that Nancy Pearcy uses in her book. This needs a lot of work.

So what? – If a situation is characterized by a primarily X worldview, what should we do to present a relevant witness in that situation? How do we point out the inconsistencies between reality and the worldview of another when we have similar inconsistencies ourselves? We need to ensure that our worldview is indeed Biblical, not cultural. From Paul Lewis

(The following is the entire article World View (2 words) which is now deleted.)

(This should probably stay non-public, and maybe it's not needed at all.) (This is the basically the same as the article entitled Worldview (as one word) except the first paragraph here about 2/3 . . . is missing in the other one, and the chart there is missing here.)

Two Third World View

Phil Stone writes: 2/3 World View – The majority of people living in the under-developed world hold to this view of the world. These people 1) Acknowledge the existence of a Creator God, though they think that God is far off and uninterested in the everyday affairs of people. 2) Believe that the empirical world exists, but that it covers an inconsequential aspect of everyday affairs. 3) Believe that most events that happen in the world are the result of beings from the spiritual realm interacting in the created world. That spiritual realm includes dead ancestors, angels, demons, and all manner of related forces.

Five World Views

In the book Total Truth by Nancy Pearcy she states than in order to be professionally prepared to work in other cultures, the focus is almost entirely on world views. Additionally language learning, in the words of an international student, is considered only a preliminary step. In communicating effectively one needs to know the habits of thought in a culture. It is no accident, in the words of Pearcy, that Paul says:

Christians are called to be "ambassadors" for the heavenly King to an alien culture (2 Cor. 5:20).
