Description of the Bible Story Animations

The goal is to communicate the Word of God with the society of the 21st century, which often prefers visual communication. The Bible message comes alive through powerful word-for-word animation of its stories. Animated stories currently available are the following: The Birth of Moses (Exod. 2:1–10), ~2 min; Moses and the Burning Bush (Exod. 3:1–22), 5 min; Goliath Challenges the Israelites (1 Sam. 17:1–11), ~2 min; David Kills Goliath (1 Sam. 17:31–51), ~4 min; An Angel Promises Jesus’ Birth to Mary (Luke 1:26–38), ~2 min; Jesus is Born in Bethlehem (Luke 2:1–6), ~2 min; Shepherds Visit Jesus (Luke 2:8–20), 3 min; The Baptism of Jesus (Matt. 3:13–17), 1 min; Jesus Heals a Man’s Hand (Luke 6:6–11), ~2 min; Jesus Heals the Demoniac (Mark 5:1–20), 4 min; Jesus Heals the Man Who was Born Blind (John 9:1–7), ~2 min; Religious Leaders Question the Blind Man (John 9:13–34), ~2 min; Jesus Teaches about Spiritual Blindness (John 9:35–39), 1 min; Jesus Shares the Last Supper (Luke 22:14–30), ~3 min; Jesus is Placed on the Cross (Luke 23:32–43), 3 min; Jesus Rises from the Dead (Matt. 28:1-7), 2 min; Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene (John 20:11–17), 3.5 min. There are also 16 animations illustrating God’s plans for the construction of the tabernacle and its furnishings taken directly from Exodus 25–28 and ___.

Considerations

The dramatized narration is directly from the New Living Translation. Each story could be used to introduce a study of the Scripture, promoting questions and discussion of the passage. The animation is well done. The special effects, especially those associated with angels and the expulsion of demons, are powerful.

Limitations

A significant level of media sophistication will be required to understand the computer animated stories. The movement of people is a little stiff, and their clothing often looks very similar. The translation team will need to evaluate how appropriate this type of media is for the different age levels within their people group.
