Brief Summary

Ways to save time when dubbing the Jesus Film

Introduction

Most of the people of Apazco and Apoala don't read. Since written materials have not communicated the Gospel, we decided to dub the Jesus Video.

Key Factors

What Was Done

Our readers for the dubbing could read Spanish, but not Mixtec, their mother tongue. They learned to read in Mixtec in two weeks. The third week they concentrated on using Mixtec. They read the script many times, paying attention to the assigned length for each reader, before dubbing in the studio. They also viewed the film many times.

The unity of the group and their friendship toward us was a big motivator for them to learn to read so rapidly.

Results

It was dubbed in four days. Other dubbings have taken one week to six months. A long dubbing process can cause extra delays. This is because over a longer time, there may be sickness, the readers may not want to be available any more, and they get discouraged.

Another big advantage was that only a few corrections were necessary after combining the audio with the video.
