Dr. Herbert Klem

Dr. Herbert V. Klem was a professor at Igbaja Seminary in Nigeria and also taught at the Daystar University in Kenya, Africa. He is currently Professor of Missions at Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.

Dr. Herbert Klem wrote, "I tried to interest several of the older African leaders in literacy. They said they were too old to become Christians. They said it was actually because they were too old to learn to read."

He continued, "After over 150 years of literacy-based mission strategy, we will still miss millions upon millions if we continue believing that people must read in order to receive the Word,"
