Desert is a barren or desolate area, usually partly covered by sand, having very little vegetation. Desert regions are capable of supporting only a limited and specially adapted animal population. The desert climate is characterized by little rainfall and extreme temperatures. These factors make it a very difficult environment for people to live in and so population of desert regions is sparse.
