Print media is communication using a mark or marks on a page to form words or pictures. Since our purpose is to communicate to oral learners, the print resources on this site are things that may be translated and used in oral forms, such as an audio cassette.

Strengths Limitations Cautions
  • The reader can proceed at his own pace
  • The material can be retained for later reference
  • Good for those who process and remember visually better than audibly
  • Artwork or photography may be included
  • Easy to distribute for individual use in homes
  • Encouraging literacy benefits a culture
  • There may be literacy barriers
  • It's difficult to show motion
  • A lot of words without pictures can turn people off
  • Many minority cultures prefer communication via relationships and media that allow interaction
  • Many literate people prefer to receive information by oral means
  • Printing time may be long, depending on the complexity of the material and availability of services locally
  • May require training, production and equipment maintenance
