On-line Bible study for children on the Book of James

Description

Moose Crossing Bible Study The Book of James is an on-line Bible study. It helps children study the five chapters of James. Verses from other New Testament verses are needed. Knowledge of Old Testament verses is also necessary.

The introduction explains that James is about good works. We are not saved by good works that we have done. But, we are saved for good works.

Chapter One tells when we are to do good works. 1. Good works during trials.

  • Trials help us prepare for good works.
  • Trials help us do good works.

Chapter two tells why we are to do good works. 2. Good works prove our faith.

  • Faith is shown by good deeds in church.
  • Faith is shown by good deeds in our community.
  • Faith is shown by the good deeds of two Bible characters studied.

Chapter three tells how we are to do good works. 3. Good works with our speaking.

  • Your words show what you think of others.
  • Your words show what you are thinking.
  • Your words can do damage to others.
  • Your words should always honor God.
  • Your words should be wise, true, godly, loving, gentle and encourage peace.

Chapter four encourages of good works in spite of temptations. 4. Some of the temptations we face include:

  • The temptation to be selfish.
  • The temptation to be morally impure.
  • The temptation to be proud.
  • The temptation to speak evil.
  • The temptation to be lazy.

Chapter five tells what good works really are. 5. Good works are our treasure in heaven.

  • Our good works are being stored up for us in heaven.
  • Our good works are better than gold and silver.

Considerations

  • Some of the lessons have true and false questions. These will need to be made culturally appropriate. For children in some language groups, the lessons may be too advanced.
  • Some lessons require looking up Bible verses for answers to the questions. These will need to be made culturally appropriate.
  • For oral cultures the lessons should be given using audio cassettes, CDs or by radio classes.
  • The lessons would be better if culturally appropriate object lessons were included.
