About Audio Media

Audio or sound without an accompanying visual or image resource is useful in communicating to people with an oral preference.

Audio equipment varies from a hand-crank analogue tape player to an ever-increasing array of digital storage/playback mediums, including the mini disk, CD, DVD, IPOD, and microchip player.

Considerations

  • Define the objective(s) of the program.
  • Choose the best mix of music, narration, drama, or other media for the intended people group.
  • Recording locally encourages interest in the program and promotes wider ownership.
  • Use local people in the production of the audio program(s). This will make it more acceptable than programs using non-local people.
